U-Slings for Patient Lifts

The Universal-Sling (U-Sling) is the ideal choice for a toileting/commode sling and a basic transfer sling. It is a split-leg design and has an open bottom making it ideal for toileting, bathing, and any transfer from one surface to another. The back is also supported and many have head and neck support.

The U-Sling works best for transferring a patient to a chair since the "open bottom" leaves the patient NOT sitting on the sling. The sling is easily removed when the patient is positioned in a chair. Especially important for patients that will be sitting in a wheelchair or recliner chair for long periods during the day.

Choosing a Universal Sling

Universal slings or “U” shaped slings mold around the body easily. They features four to eight hook-up straps for an array of attachment options to a four or six-point spreader bar. More attachment straps allow adjustments for better weight distribution and more comfortable positions. Padded legs reduce skin injury and discomfort during sling application. Select Mesh models for wet applications and quicker drying times. Mesh models come without padded legs. Universal slings are available with or without head support.

When appropriate, the U-Sling is the easiest type of sling to use.
