Foam Mattress

Foam Mattress for Hospital Beds

A therapeutic foam mattress can consist of different layers, zones, features and densities. These products are designed to redistribute pressure and are used in the prevention and early stages of pressure ulcers. A softer foam is used to cradle the head, while a foam which becomes softer as more heat or body temperature is applied is used to cradle the heels. Multiple layers of foam offer pressure redistribution for the torso while higher density foam is placed on the side or edge of the mattress for side support.

Mattresses are incredibly important for most everyone but especially so for those who require the use of a hospital bed, and even more so for those confined to bed for long hours. If you're shopping for a quality foam mattress for sale, you'll find you can buy discounted foam mattresses here that are tops in quality but low in cost. These products offer excellent defense against skin ulcers and skin breakdown.

Foam is measured in two ways: density and firmness.

  1. Density is associated with performance and durability, and is measured by pound per cubic foot.
  2. Firmness is expressed as IFD or indentation force deflection. That measurement is determined by the amount of force required to indent the foam by 25% of its original height.
